Joyce Ajok, Threads of Blessing artist, offers a view of a male peacock. With its majestic tail, the bird poses under a bright blue sky in a field with pink flowers and an Acacia tree. The work measures 11.5 x 10.5 inches. While not endemic to Uganda, the peacock, also known as the Indian Pea Fowl, is a protected species, as are all wild animal species under Ugandan law.

Joyce meets weekly with her fellow needleworkers.  The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly raised their self-confidence.

She will use the funds she receives for her needlework to provide education for her children, medical support for her family, seeds or fertilizer for her crops, repairs for her home, and provide for any orphans for whom she cares as a result of HIV-AIDS or other illnesses.

“I would like to thank the founder of Threads of Blessing.  I am one of the beginners recently introduced to Threads of Blessing.  I have been able to learn a lot.  I will continue to achieve like others.  May God bless you so much for allowing God to use you to teach us.” -Joyce Ajok.
