Margaret Asiimwe embroidered the basket of fruit on this 17" x 15" tote bag. The outside is tan/cream striped canvas, and the lining is cheery yellow cotton. The tote has a large front pocket, a zippered back pocket, twist-lock closure at the top, and sturdy handles.
Margaret lives in southern Uganda, in the diocese of Ruwenzori close to the Rwandan border – a particularly beautiful area known as the “Switzerland” of Uganda. Her life revolves around caring for her family and her crops.
Margaret will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children; medical support for herself and her family; seeds or fertilizer for her crops; and maintenance and repairs to her home. Margaret meets weekly with her fellow needle workers. The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly raised their self-confidence.
