Mary lives in the Diocese of Ruwenzori and meets regularly with her fellow needleworkers who support and learn from one another. She offers this insight on her life and participation as a Threads of Blessing artist.
“I thank God for Threads of Blessing having come to Uganda. The funds I have gotten from Threads of Blessing have allowed me to buy two pigs and 30 chickens, which boosts my income. I am a widow staying with my grandchildren, and God is a strong pillar in our home.”
Mary belongs to one of 29 stitching groups located across several Ugandan dioceses. The groups comprise over 900 women artists who are part of the Threads of Blessing family.
Each woman designs and hand-stitches her piece, creating a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects her culture, daily life, and the landscape in which she lives.
