Barbara lives in Mukono, in central Uganda, where she serves as the leader of her Threads of Blessing group. Over the years, she has taught many women and children to embroider, sharing both her skills and her encouragement with others. She offers this insight on her life and participation as a Threads of Blessing artist.
“Praise God! I thank God for the gift of life and for helping me discover my talent for embroidery.
Through Threads of Blessing, I have been able to purchase a sewing machine, improve the well-being of my family, and provide school supplies and educational materials for our children. The income from my stitching has also allowed me to invest in other projects, including raising pigs and goats.
One of the greatest blessings has been being able to purchase a 10,000-gallon water tank. Because of this, access to clean water is no longer a daily concern for my family.
For all of these blessings, I give the honor and glory to God.”
Barbara meets regularly with fellow needleworkers, and together they have built a supportive community through Threads of Blessing. The friendships they have formed encourage one another, strengthen their confidence, and help them grow both personally and financially.
