Crested Cranes are the stars of this this hand-stitched tapestry created by Jennefer, Threads of Blessing artist. The Crested Crane, Uganda's national bird, are shown feeding on lush green banks near the water's edge. The work measures 10 x 8 inches.
Jennefer lives in a village called Goli in the district of Nebbi in northwest Uganda. Nebbi borders Lake Albert to the south, the River Nile to the east, and the Congo to the west.
Her life revolves around caring for her family and crops. She will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children, medical support for herself and her family, seeds or fertilizer for her crops, and provide for any orphans for whom she cares as a result of HIV/AIDS or other illnesses.
Jennefer meets weekly with her fellow needleworkers. The community they have built through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly boosted their self-esteem.
