This bright hummingbird feeding from a flower, created by Margaret Mary Komuhendo, is the focal point of an 11" x 8" purse. The exterior is quilted black cotton and the interior is a cheery orange and yellow print that echos the colors of the the flower. The purse has an interior zip pocket, an interior patch pocket, a heavy-duty top zipper, and a detachable wrist strap.
Margaret Mary lives in southern Uganda, in the diocese of Ruwenzori close to the Rwandan border – a particularly beautiful area known as the “Switzerland” of Uganda. Her life revolves around caring for her family and her crops.
Margaret Mary meets weekly with her fellow needle workers. The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly raised their self-confidence. She will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children; medical support for herself and her family; seeds or fertilizer for her crops; and maintenance and repairs to her home.
