This bright hummingbird, created by Enid Kahigwa, is displayed on a 10.5" x 7.5" purse. The fabric is black denim, with multicolor weavings on the back that echo the colors of the bird. The inside is lined with purple African print. The purse has an interior zip pocket, an interior patch pocket, a heavy-duty top zipper, and a detachable wrist strap.
Enid lives in southern Uganda, in the diocese of Ruwenzori close to the Rwandan border – a particularly beautiful area known as the “Switzerland” of Uganda. Her life revolves around caring for her family and her crops, and she meets weekly with her fellow needle workers.
Enid will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children; medical support for herself, her family, and orphans for whom she cares; supplies for her crops; and maintenance to her home.
