The butterflies on this purse were created by Maria Goretti Kiragga. The 12" x 12" purse is made of black denim with green batik lining. It closes with a bright green zipper (highlighting the butterflies) and has a detachable strap and inside pocket.
Maria lives in Mukono, close to the capital city of Kampala, Uganda. Mukono is also home to a large Christian university. Her life revolves around caring for her family and her crops.
Maria uses the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children; medical support for herself, her family, and orphans for whom she cares; seeds or fertilizer for her crops; and maintenance and repairs to her home.
