Amiliana Alirach embroidered this picture of a boy knocking mangoes out of a tree while his friend eats them. It is displayed on this 8" x 10" journal cover. The journal is made of dark denim with an African batik print lining. The notebook itself is a standard composition book that is easily replaced.
Amiliana lives in the district of Nebbi in northwest Uganda. Nebbi borders Lake Albert to the south, the River Nile to the east, and the Congo to the west. Her life revolves around caring for her family and her crops.
Amiliana will use the funds she receives from her needlework to provide education for her children and adopted orphans, medical support for herself and her family, seeds or fertilizer for her crops, and maintenance and repairs to her home. She meets weekly with her fellow needleworkers. The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages them and has significantly raised their self-confidence.
