Margret Ryekotho, Threads of Blessing artist, creates a lovely snapshot of everyday life in Uganda with this colorful tapestry that measures 11 x 12 inches. A family is gathered outside their home. A mother cooks on an open fire with her husband seated across from her. Their child gardens while chickens and a goat graze nearby.

Margret lives in Fualwonga, and belongs to one of 29 stitching groups located across Uganda. The groups total over 900 women artists who are part of the Threads of Blessing family.

The money the women earn from their stitching is life-changing. It enables them to help support their families, pay for education and medical needs, and buy seeds and fertilizer for their crops. Each woman designs and hand-stitches her piece, creating a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects her culture, daily life, and the landscape in which she lives.
