Bentah Nassonka, who stitched the delightful elephants on this pillow, is only 12 years old. The fabric is soft faux suede in a gray print reminiscent of elephant hide, with black edging.
Bentah lives in Mukono, close to the capital city of Kampala, Uganda. Mukono is also home to a large Christian university. She will put the funds she receives from her needlework toward her education. Bentah meets weekly with her fellow needle workers. The community they have developed through Threads of Blessing encourages each of them and has significantly raised their self-esteem.
