This large tapestry, hand-stitched by Florence Kasamba, Threads of Blessing artist, offers the viewer a rich scene of animals near a watering hole, including giraffes, elephants, a zebra, antelope, a bird, a turtle, a rabbit, and a monkey swinging from a tree. The artist expertly layers a multitude of different stitches in each figure, creating a sense of depth from the foreground to the background. The work measures 22.5 x 12 inches.
Florence offers this insight on her life in Uganda and her participation as a Threads of Blessing artist.
“Threads of Blessing has enabled me to join, study, save, and create new friends across the country. It has also enabled us in our family to take good care of our home and children, thanksgiving, school fees, caring for orphans. I bought one goat and now I have five. May Lord God bless all our friends from West Texas. Thanks.”
Florence lives in Goli, the village where we hold the annual workshop. It is located in northwest Uganda.
